Description
Nature has not provided us with a black rose. However in 1954, Meilland in France introduced the Baccara rose. It is a very deep dark red that resembles black. They bloom in the spring and all through the summer. They have larger blooms and velvety petal. However, they have no fragrance. They are beautiful flower bouquets when mixed with contrasting color such as cream and yellow. Other so called black roses: Black Magic rose, Black Beauty rose, Black Ice and Black Jade roses. Thank you for viewing my artwork and photography. Please share my site with family and friends. Blessing to all.

What a great and unexpected image - The contrasting flowers really pop against the dark roses.

That's a great image, nicely set and framed. I didn't know about the history of the black rose.

That is GORGEOUS! I'll take 2 dozen of the Baccara Roses, please! They look black to me ~~ must be awesome to see right in front of you. Beautiful composition, Ella!!! v/f

Beautiful shot of these black roses in a lovely bouquet. Your information about the black roses is very interesting.

How interesting Ella, no scent? I have never seen a black rose but they are beautiful! Well done!
