I was a kid in the 50s and lived with my grandparents in Louisiana. My grandfather was always working in his two acre garden. I would walk out to find him (everyday except Sunday when everything was closed) and ask if I could have money for the store. He always gave me silver coins from his pocket and said "do not buy coke, get some orange or grape drink". I made the two block walk to town and back with a coca cola bottle in my hand. He never said another word; until the next day when I walked out to the garden with the same question. Best grandparents in the world. Thanks for letting me share that memory.
This coke ice chest photo was taken in Bandera, Texas. The image has been digitally enhanced.
