Description
The brown pelican is a favorite among the coastal birds. They have a long oversized bill and large dark body. The pelican feeds by diving into the water for fish. This particular pelican was floating in the Lavaca Bay in south Texas. I added texture to the photo to enhance the natural colors of the bird. The Pelican is the state bird of Louisiana. The adult pelican has yellow feathers on the head, white feathers on the neck and large body with grey and brown.
