My Sweet Magnolia is a photo-enhanced image of a magnolia in bloom in my neighbors yard. It is wonderful to walk the neighborhood in the spring as these blooms have the most wonderful fragrance. They have large white petals that begin in a bulb shaped ball. The layers begin to open to show the lovely center stamen. The curls on the stamen are called stigmas and the red at the base is call stamen scars. Popular all around the world. This evergreen is the state flower of Louisiana.
