Description
Between 1860 and 1960, people moved away from farms and cows, and dairying changed from women’s work at home into a mechanized industry. The milkman delivered dairy products to villages, towns, and cities.
During the 1960s, our social, economic, and industrial changes caused milk delivery to shift to the self-service supermarket. We said goodbye to our home delivery milkman.
Not telling my age...specifically, but I remember our milkman. He was always smiling and in a good mood. I would sit by the front door waiting. I wanted to make sure that he did not forget my order....chocolate milk. Then, we would was our empty bottles, put them in the container and await our next delivery.
