Do you know John Newton?
He is the hymn writer of "Amazing Grace."
During the 18th century, John Newton was a crew member of a slave ship. They traveled to Africa gathering and transporting slaves. He was a cruel and arrogant slave trader. During a return trip to England, an 11 hour grueling storm engulfed the ship. He witnessed one of his fellow crew members die because of the storm. John Newton found himself clinging for life and asked God to save him.
God did save him and set a mission in his heart. Mr. Newton became a clergyman and a hymn writer. A man changed by the grace of God forever. A man who changed countless lives by pouring out his heart while writing the words of Amazing Grace.
