Product Details

Invictus metal print by Ella Kaye Dickey.   Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

Artist's Description

Henley wrote this poem in 1875. It was published in 1888 and is one of the most popular English poems. Henley was 12 years old when he was diagnosed with tubular arthritis. He lived in constant pain. He lost his left leg as a young man and wore a wooden leg. He was a friend of Robert Louis Stevenson. Stevenson used Henley as the character "Long John Silver". Henley had a life filled with physical pain. After the surgery that removed his leg, he underwent a new "alternative treatment" that saved his right leg. This is a poem about a life of pain, fear and unknowing. Facing his fears of death and the unknown of the disease, he wrote this poem of the courage he found within himself.

I have to admit that I never really understood the darkness of the prose. But, again research on the internet has given insight into the life of the author. Our world is filled with individuals who face health challenges every day of their lives. Now, I can see the power and courage in th...
