You are viewing the sidewalk front entrance of the Phillips - Sale House in Victoria, Texas. The home was built by Alexander Hamilton Phillips who served both the Congress of the Republic of Texas and the Legislature of the State of Texas. The home was originalyl built from slave made bricks. The bricks remain under a layer of stucco which was applied during a remodel in 1890s. This home was the center for social balls and receptions in Victoria, Texas. Governor Sam Houston attended such an event in 1857. Walter Sale purchased this property in 1932. He was a medical doctor and World War I veteran. The home remains in his family. A broad designed two story porch, classical columns are features of this classic home. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1967.

Lovely shot, I love how the trees have taken over and one must peek through them to see the front door. Nicely done!
