Description
Louisiana has long been a logging state. My grandfather cut trees with a large two man handsaw. He told me that he used to work for 50 cents a day. During the 1950s and early 60s, my uncle came home from work with pine shavings all over his overalls. I loved to run out and give him a hug when he came home. The smell of fresh pine lingered even after he had gone to change clothes. The same Uncle was pinned under a log truck and logs as a young man. It was a miracle that he lived, healed and returned to work.
2017: While in Louisiana visiting my mother, I could smell that fresh pine. I walked around to the back of a store and there they were. Three trucks loaded with freshly cut pine trees.
